September 17-Hello to Disney’s Hollywood

Photobucket

The line for buses to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is extremely short, unlike the line for Magic Kingdom….OMG!  I enter the queue hoping that Andy will arrive before the bus does.  He takes forever to get there….fortunately (?), so does the bus.  He arrives just as our bus is loading.  The driver crams every single body that will physically fit onto the bus.  We ride snuggly with our fellow Walt Disney World guests and arrive none too soon.  Here we are!!  Another wonderful day in a Disney park!!

We head immediately to Toy Story Midway Mania and collect our FASTPASSes for 3:15.  We walk next door to visit the Chronicles of Narnia attraction for the first time ever.  I’m disappointed.  The entire time, I am thinking that I’m experiencing the pre-show…..but find out that’s all there is.  A trailer for a movie.  Bah.

Our next stop is at Magic of Disney Animation. Hannah and Jonah play with the interactive touchscreens and the set for Wall-E photos. Andy attends Animation Academy. Just as I’m preparing to leave I notice the Incredibles stepping out for photos and autographs. A line begins to form. I hustle over with the kids and take 4th spot in queue. I’m ecstatic to get PhotoPass shots with my heroes and ask to have one of just Elastigirl and myself. I try to set Jonah down for my solo shoot, but he won’t let go. I’m unable to peel him off my body and am laughing hysterically in my photo.

I’ve been trying to catch up to an online acquaintance and we are finally getting close to one another. I head to Studio Catering and spot someone looking for someone else. It’s Bookwood! We exchange hellos and talk a bit briefly, then it’s time to get back to my family. They’re starting to melt down and need quick service attention. I order a delicious salad, and tasty dessert for myself. The kids have the usual. There are two wonderful CMs here eager to assist with whatever you might need so I ask them to pose for my awesome CM photo collection. They comply sweetly.

After our lunch, we reload the stroller and head to Voyage of the Little Mermaid.  Our timing is perfect and we walk right into the theater.  We go to the Great Movie Ride next.  The CMs there notify us that we can get right on if we hurry, so we do.  Same old ride, but I enjoy it nonetheless.  Next stop isPlayhouse Disney for Hannah and Jonah, but Andy is going to pass.  Instead, he heads out to ride Tower of Terror and grabs some FASTPASSes for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.  We’ll meet back up in One Man’s Dream.

As I’m walking up to Playhouse with the little guys, Hannah is pulled aside and selected to be VIP for the show.  She receives a certificate and an activity book.  After a wait of two or three minutes, we are escorted alone into the theater.  We are kindly advised of the best place to sit.  I really feel like a VIP but I don’t think it means anything to Hannah.  This is the closest I’ve been to receiving a Disney dream.

We love the show.  I think Jonah enjoys it the most.  He is up on his feet dancing with all the bigger kids.  It has definitely improved since Bear in the Big Blue House.

We meet Andy at our designated spot and proceed to Toy Story Midway Mania to use our FASTPASSes.  It’s even better than I remember and I really wish we could ride again.  Alas, FASTPASSes are no longer available and I will never wait 80 minutes for any attraction…..not with my small children anyhow, so we move on.

Andy goes back to use his Rockin Roller Coaster FASTPASSes but doesn’t need them.  He zips right on through the single rider lane instead.  We meet back in the Tower of Terror lobby.  Jonah is sleeping…..so I buy popcorn for Hannah and stroll the kids over to Rockin Roller Coaster gift shop so I can sneak off and ride.  I love it!!!!!  For the past four years, I’ve either been pregnant or have very young children with me, so I don’t get on the thrill rides much.  It’s a special treat for me and I’m ecstatic!

But now it’s getting close to time for dinner and we’re on the wrong side of the park.  As we walk past Hollywood Boulevard we cross paths with Hollywood Public Works.  We can’t resist and stay to watch.  They make us giggle and they make us laugh…..then we’re off to Sci-Fi Dine In Theater.  With a few minutes to spare, Andy is able to slip in a ride on Star Tours before we are seated in our car for dinner.  I order the shrimp and pasta, but when it arrives, I remember that I actually intended to order the grilled chicken bruschetta sandwich.  I am distracted by Jonah.  He has been napping since Tower of Terror and is full of energy at this point.  Dinner is nice anyway and my Oreo milkshake is just awesome!

After dinner, it is time for the park to close. We step inside Writer’s Stop so I can search again for Mickey mac & cheese. Once again…no luck. Time to find our pillows for the night.
