No Request is Too Extreme – My New Disney Dooney and Bourke

I’m not much of a girly-girl. I like being female and I love looking like a woman, but I’m very low maintenance. I’m most comfortable in T-shirt and jeans and rarely ever wear make-up. I usually carry the same purse year after year and I own no more than five pairs of shoes. So really…I’m not a good candidate for a designer bag at all. Or am I a perfect fit?

When I first learned of the Disney Dooney and Bourke handbags, was curious. Disney is one of my passions and I’m typically very interested in anything with a good Disney connection. So while I’m not a purse person per se, add Disney to the bag and I get all purse-lusty!

I kept quiet about my Disney Dooney desire and watched silently as each new style was introduced. The steep price tag kept me from purchasing one for myself, but my secret interest never waned. I almost bought one for myself when I received a small inheritance from my grandfather…but nah…still couldn’t justify that price tag.

But somehow, my secret leaked out.

Lucky gal that I am, I was thoroughly surprised by my family this Christmas with a beautiful Disney Dooney and Bourke handbag. I never expected it and was completely caught off guard. So much so, that I cried…in front of everyone…which I totally hate doing. But what a great gift! Somebody must love me…must really know me. I was touched.

My first Disney Dooneys!

My new awesome purse is the multi-colored balloon Mickey Mouse Colette bag. I think it’s the most beautiful, eye-catching print offered. It’s brightly colored, attractive and showy, but not too bold or overly daring. I love the light blue cotton interior and tan leather accents.

The leather surface seems to be coated and is textured. This should make it easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth. I’m protective of my Disney Dooney and hope to keep it clean forever. :)

The purse is roomy with the perfect amount of pockets to keep smaller items right at my finger tips. The large size and sturdy construction make it ideal for toting my usual purse stuff with plenty of room leftover for my bulky camera. I feel good carrying this bag. I really do love it.

The shoulder strap is a bit small with my bulky coat, but I carry it on my forearm instead when wearing my poofy winter garb. The leather rings on the straps are the most annoying feature of this bag. They tend to roam the strap and I find myself having to return them to position often. Not a big issue though. I still love this bag.

My Dooney and Burke feels very durable but only time will tell if it truly is or not. In the meantime, I proclaim once more…I love this bag!

I don’t think I can. It’s about 7 years old now, still looks brand new. And I’m still in love with it. :)
