Disney Blog Hop – My Disney Memories

Walt Disney World Resort is the perfect place to build memories with loved ones. Our recollections of good times with family and friends bring many of us back repeatedly…and have us longing to return to the Happiest Place on Earth, as soon as we get back home.

This week’s blog hop at Babes in Disneyland, is all about sharing memories…and I’m here to eagerly join in with mine.

But choosing just one special memory is no easy feat, so I’ve opted to share a few of my most favorite photo souvenirs….starting with my first trip in November of 1975…way back when the Magic Kingdom and I were both young.

I remember being most impressed with America on Parade. I was twelve years old at the time, so I had seen numerous parades in my life, but never anything like this one. Disney really entertains in a big way! It was definitely a highlight for me.

My next trip to WDW was as a wife and mother in December of 1985. I lived in Florida then and had just given birth to my second child. He was less than a month old when I joined my parents and three of my four sisters for an exciting day in the park.

This was pre-Rider Swap days, so I sat out with my baby and watched as the rest of my family had the times of their lives. I didn’t mind, but I truly appreciate how this has changed today.

In 1999, I started what would become annual, and sometimes biannual excursions to The World. It was my first trip down without my parents, my first big adventure as a single mom.

I drove all the way from Illinois with my three offspring and paid for the trip on my own. It was a huge accomplishment for me and I was so proud that I did it. All. By. Myself. It felt so very good and it came at a time when I needed it.

I have at least a million memories more…and hundreds, maybe thousands of photos I could share…but don’t be afraid. I’m going to stop here. So I can check out the other postings on this Disney Blog Hop.

As Tigger says…TTFN!

Thanks Beth! I treasure all my photos. I love pre-digital pics too, but they sure weren’t very good. :) Lots of heads got chopped off back in “those days”. ;)

Congratulations (Ok, a few years late) on that 1999 trip! It’s great that you accomplished it all on your own – and what better way to celebrate than spending time with your kids at Disney :)
