Celebrate Family! We’re at WDW NOW!!
I’m currently having the most magical Walt Disney World experience of my life (so far). I’m attending the 2010 Social Media Moms Celebration and cannot believe just how special Disney is making me feel. Many of us are housed in Rarotonga House at the Polynesian resort with our families. The Poly has long been my fantasy resort and there is absolutely no disappointment in the Poly as a reality. I love it here!
Upon checking into the event, I received some really cool swag and found out that we were granted a FASTPASS exchange card. This has to be the coolest thing EVER! Insert the card into any FASTPASS kiosk and receive as many INSTANT FASTPASSes as you need! I can even get several…say at Soarin’ and right over and pick up several more at Living with the Land. AAAAAHH!! Can you imagine what that must be like? I want to scream with delight!
Yesterday, I attended a press event at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Meg Crofton announced the return of Main Street Electrical Parade and “Summer Nightastic”. Magic Kingdom will fill the night sky with a special summer fireworks show with “vivid colors and brilliant visual effects as whimsical music fills the air.”
At Hollywood Studios, there will be new effects and an addition of a new drop sequence on Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
Al Weiss and Ken Potrock spoke at the media presentation as well. Al gave details of the Fantasyland expansion. He also spoke of the Castaway Cay make-over, new sailings for Magic and Wonder, and the expansion of Disney Cruise Line Fleet.
Ken gave us a preview of the relaunch of the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex.
An all-new 3-D version of Star Tours will launch sometime in 2011.
Afterward, we attended a sports-themed tailgate dinner. There was a huge stage with a DJ where the kids danced all night long.
I will post photos as soon as time allows.
This morning we were bussed into a behind-the-scenes entrance at EPCOT in order to attend a breakfast conference with Guy Kawasaki at the American Adventure Rotunda. After the breakfast we were escorted to World ShowPlace for the unveiling of a Guiness record setting canned food sculpture. Ty Pennington, Kermit the Frog and Sweetums announced the unveiling.
We played in the park with our instant FASTPASSes then returned to World ShowPlace to volunteer our services in dismantling the sculpture so that the cans can be shipped to where they are needed.
I’m now back at the Poly, waiting to return to EPCOT for a dinner party under the stars. It’s a little chilly here so I’m really hoping they’ll have some heaters out there. Our evening will be topped off with “surprise entertainment elements”. There’s a rumor on twitter that Kathy Ireland is here and Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato are here too. I walked right past the two of them and had NO idea who they were (still don’t really know). I suspect there may be a Jonas brother involved in the entertainment tonight. I guess I’ll find out soon enough.
Stay tuned for more exciting Disney news!
